The Member of Parliament for Jaman South, Colonel Kwadwo Damoah (Rtd.), has asserted that individuals who orchestrated his removal as Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) are now living in fear, as accountability looms over their actions.
Col. Damoah, who has consistently maintained his innocence, insists that his dismissal was politically motivated and orchestrated by appointees of the former Akufo-Addo-led administration.
According to him, those responsible for his ousting are now unsettled, fearing they may soon be held accountable for their roles in what he describes as an unjust decision, GhOne TV reports.
He was relieved of his duties on August 26, 2022, through a letter signed by then Executive Secretary Nana Bediatuo Asante.
His removal followed an investigation by the Office of the Special Prosecutor into alleged irregularities at the port involving Labianca, a foreign food importing company.
The Special Prosecutor’s findings indicated that the late owner of Labianca, Eunice Jacqueline Asomah-Hinneh, leveraged her position as a Board Member of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) to obtain undue advantages for her business.
Col. Damoah’s name was linked to the scandal, but he has since insisted that he was unfairly targeted.
