The President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, will on Friday, 12th December 2025, depart Accra for Nairobi, Kenya, to participate in the Jubilee celebrations of the Republic of Kenya.
President Mahama is travelling at the invitation of Kenyan President William Ruto, who extended a special request for him to grace the national occasion.
Following the celebrations in Kenya, President Mahama will proceed to Abuja, Nigeria, on Sunday, 14th December 2025, to attend the 68th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Summit, where regional leaders are expected to deliberate on security, economic integration, and governance issues affecting West Africa.
In the President’s absence, the Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, will act as President in accordance with Article 60(8) of the 1992 Constitution.
President Mahama is expected to return to Ghana on Monday, 15th December 2025.
The travel details were disclosed on the floor of Parliament by the First Deputy Speaker, Benard Ahiafor, during proceedings on Thursday, 11th December 2025.
