Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Operations at the Presidency, Stan Dogbe, has stated that President John Dramani Mahama is not a retaliatory leader, countering remarks made by the Minority Leader in Parliament, Afenyo Markin.
Mr. Markin, who also leads the “Save the Judiciary” demonstration, accused the President of acting out of vengeance in the recent suspension of the Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo.
The suspension followed a prima facie case established by the Council of State in response to three separate petitions calling for her removal.
Following the Council’s advice and in accordance with constitutional procedures, President Mahama suspended the Chief Justice.
This move, however, sparked backlash from the Minority, who organized a public protest demanding that the President revoke the decision.
During the presentation of their petition at the Presidency, Stan Dogbe received the document on behalf of the President.
In his response, Dogbe reiterated that President Mahama’s actions are guided by the rule of law and national interest, not by personal vendetta or political revenge.
“President Mahama is not back in office with a vengeful heart”, he emphasized
He is committed to justice, accountability, and upholding democratic values,” Dogbe stated, directly addressing the concerns raised by Afenyo Markin and the demonstrators.
