President John Dramani Mahama has nominated two Members of Parliament for appointment as Ministers of State and reassigned two serving ministers to new portfolios as part of a ministerial reshuffle aimed at strengthening government delivery.
In a statement issued by the Presidency and signed by the Minister for Government Communications and Presidential Spokesperson, Hon. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, MP, the President, acting in accordance with Article 78(1) of the 1992 Constitution, submitted the names of the nominees to Parliament through the Speaker for prior approval.
The nominees are:
Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, MP – Minister-designate for the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology.
Mahama Ayariga, MP – Minister-designate for the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
The President has also reassigned the following ministers to new portfolios:
Hon. Kenneth Gilbert Adjei – Minister for Defence.
Ahmed Ibrahim, MP – Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources.
The nominations and reassignments are subject to the necessary constitutional processes, including parliamentary approval for the ministerial nominees.
The Presidency indicated that the changes form part of ongoing efforts to strengthen governance and enhance the effective implementation of the government’s development agenda.
