The Paramount Chief of Guli, Guli Naa Seidu Braima, has thrown his weight behind the vice presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang describing her as a “God-given leader” destined to become Ghana’s next Vice President.
He has therefore called on Ghanaian women to unite and vote massively for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the December 7 elections.
His call comes as Ghanaians get ready for December’s historic elections as Ghana stands a chance of electing its first female Vice president of Ghana.
The Guli Naa said this when he hosted the NDC vice presidential candidate in Guli to conclude her campaign tour of the Upper West Region.
According to the Guli Naa, it is crucial that Ghanaian women back their own in Professor Opoku Agyemang by ensuring the NDC party’s success in the election.
He urged Ghanaian women to take advantage of the historic opportunity offered by the December elections to take step closer to the highest office of the land by electing Professor Opoku Agyemang as the first female Vice President of Ghana.
Guli Naa further believes the election of Professor Opoku Agyemang will give meaning to the recently passed affirmative action which requires Ghanaians from all walks of life and gender to demonstrate a commitment to liberation and equal opportunities for women and girls.
“If we do not seize this opportunity, it could lead to a setback for women’s political representation in Ghana, and we may not have another chance like this in the near future,” he cautioned.
On her part, Professor Opoku Agyemang thanked the Guli Naa for his endorsement and called on citizens to turn out in large numbers on election day to vote massively for Mr. John Mahama and all NDC parliamentary candidates contesting the elections.
