Residents and commuters along the Amasaman 3-Junction to Adjen Kotoku stretch have raised urgent concerns over the worsening condition of the road and a weakening bridge near Doblo, warning that the situation poses a serious risk to lives and livelihoods.
According to community members, the road has deteriorated significantly over time, making daily travel difficult and costly. Drivers who ply the stretch say they are forced to carry out frequent vehicle maintenance due to the poor state of the road, increasing their operational expenses.
“The road is in a very bad shape. Almost every week, we have to fix something on our cars,” one commercial driver lamented, adding that the situation is affecting their income.
Particularly worrying is the condition of a bridge just after Doblo, which residents say is showing visible signs of structural distress. Cracks and general weakening of the structure have sparked fears of a possible collapse if urgent intervention is not undertaken.
“This bridge is a disaster waiting to happen. Both pedestrians and drivers are at risk,” a concerned resident noted.
The stretch is also a vital route for traders, especially onion sellers operating at Adjen Kotoku, one of the key food distribution hubs in the area. The poor road network is therefore not only affecting transportation but also disrupting the movement of goods and increasing the cost of food distribution.

Residents are calling on the relevant authorities, including the Ministry of Roads and Highways and local government officials, to urgently inspect and rehabilitate the road and bridge.
They stress that prompt intervention will not only improve safety but also ease transportation challenges and support economic activities in the area.
For now, commuters continue to navigate the stretch with caution, hoping that their concerns will receive the attention they deserve before the situation escalates into a major disaster.
