Leader and Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama has made a firm commitment to support the Financial and Technology (FINTECH) industry in Ghana with a seed capital of $50 million dollars.
The Flagbearer of the NDC reiterated this commitment during an engagement with Ghana FINTECH ecosystem as part of his “Building the Ghana we want” tour.
It will be recalled that during the NDC LAB Policy Dialogue on 24th February 2024, the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress John Dramani Mahama disclosed his intention to support FINTECH to enhance socio-economic Development.
The engagement with the players in the FINTECH Ecosystem afforded the financial and technology industry players the opportunity and privilege to espouse their challenges in the sector and what they expect the next John Dramani Mahama administration to address such challenges and grow the sector.
In his address, John Dramani Mahama disclosed that his next administration will establish a new regulatory framework for the sector which will rid the system of political colouration especially in the issuance of licenses.
The NDC Flagbearer pledged the commitment of the NDC to bridge the gender gap in the financial sector by creating women owned financial institution that will champion and address issues facing women in the sector
John Dramani Mahama also highlighted his contributions to the Post and Telecommunication industry and how the sector has evolved from the days of Ghana Post and Telecommunications Service, the establishment of National Communication Authority and private sector participation in the telecommunication industry.
