Hundreds of artisans and students in the North Tongu district of the Volta Region have received logistical support to enhance their skills, employability, and educational opportunities.
The initiative, which includes sewing machines, hairdryers, and laptops, was presented by the running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Opoku Agyemang, along with the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwah.
The event saw participation from party members, community leaders, chiefs, and youth, many of whom are apprentices and final-year tertiary students.
During a durbar as part of her tour of the Volta Region, Professor Opoku Agyemang said that the initiative was designed to provide practical tools to enable beneficiaries to establish their businesses in the fashion and beauty sectors, while also supporting students in their academic pursuits.
She reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to investing in the Ghanaian youth.
The distribution event was met with cheers and applause from the gathered young people, who expressed gratitude for the opportunities presented.
Many shared their aspirations of using the new equipment to set up businesses, pursue higher education, and generate income for their families.
On his part, the Member of Parliament of North Tongu, Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwah announced plans for the next NDC government to establish a public university in the North Tongu constituency.
He also pledged the construction of a bridge at Volivo to connect the Asotuare and Juapong communities.
Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwah urged the people of North Tongu to come out in large numbers on December 7 to vote for him and the NDC flagbearer, John Mahama.
Beneficiaries who spoke to Radio Gold, Emmanuel Coffie praised the NDC for their commitment to youth empowerment.
“Initiatives like these ignite hope and inspire us to strive harder for our dreams. We are grateful to the NDC for addressing the needs of the youth in our constituency,” one beneficiary said.
