As Ghanaians head to the polls on December 7, the Vice Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Opoku Agyemang has called on citizens to cast their votes in overwhelming support of John Mahama and NDC’s agenda to “reset” the country.
According to her Ghana has been plunged into deep economic difficulties by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Speaking during a campaign tour in Bawku, Prof. Opoku Agyemang acknowledged that the path ahead would be fraught with challenges but expressed confidence in the resilience and capability of Ghanaians to rise to the occasion.
“I do not doubt that you will stand with us (NDC) going forward to restore our country to where it belongs. It is going to be hard work, but I know that nobody in this room is afraid of hard work because the result will justify why we are putting in so much,” she stated.
She said the best response citizens can give to the pressing challenges and maladministration of the NPP is to resoundingly vote on the agenda to get the country back on a path to progress and stability by voting resoundingly for the NDC.
“The reason I am here is for all of us to look at what is happening and what has happened to our country. I do not think it will take another person to tell us how we feel; we all know,” she added.
Prof. Opoku Agyemang further urged Ghanaians to view December 7 not merely as an election date but as a crucial communal effort to bring about meaningful change.
She also called for unity and support for NDC parliamentary candidates, stressing that they represent the party’s vision for a better future despite the current circumstances.
“I also plead for cooperation at that level, for tight unity and support for all our parliamentary candidates. They are the candidates we have; it is in our interest to do everything possible to ensure they come into parliament,” she said.
