President John Dramani Mahama has issued a strong call to action to members of his administration, urging them to embrace their responsibilities with purpose and a results-driven mindset.
Speaking at the opening session of the Executive Leadership Programme at the Aqua Safari Resort in Ada, the President addressed his appointees and senior officials of the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, outlining the expectations for his second tenure in office.
The Executive Leadership Programme is part of a broader capacity-building initiative aimed at equipping government officials with the strategic insight, ethical grounding, and leadership skills necessary to address Ghana’s economic and governance challenges. The retreat is designed to encourage reflection, collaboration, and alignment on key policy goals and national development priorities.
President Mahama did not mince words, stating:
“You were not appointed to occupy space but to solve problems.”
He underscored the urgency of action and the need for public officeholders to focus on real impact rather than titles or rhetoric.
“There is a need for you, as appointees, to be honest, dedicated, and loyal to Ghanaians in all your activities,” he charged.
Acknowledging the high expectations of Ghanaians, he further stressed:
“The people expect this NDC administration to deliver.
Every member must take responsibility, make no excuses, and show results.”
Referring to the historic weight of his current term in office, President Mahama added, “This is my legacy term of the presidency, and I intend to make it count. I intend to make it matter and I expect every member of this administration to do the same.”
The remarks set the tone for what is expected to be a focused and performance-oriented term, as the President seeks to consolidate reforms, restore economic stability, and deliver on campaign promises.
