Gbawe, Greater Accra
In a move to bolster local sanitation efforts, the Young Progressive Network (YPN) has donated a range of sanitation tools and protective gear to the Assembly Member and Unit Committee of the Gbawe East Electoral Area in the Weija-Gbawe Municipality.
The donation, spearheaded by the convener of the network, Patrick Asford Boadu, is part of the YPN’s Corporate Social Responsibility and aligns with the national “Reset Ghana” agenda aimed at improving public health and environmental hygiene through collective action.
Donation Breakdown
The items presented include both sanitation tools and protective gear:
Sanitation Tools:
5 rakes
5 sets of machetes
2 pick axes
10 long brooms
5 sets of spades and shovels
Protective Gear:
5 sets of Wellington boots
5 sets of hand gloves
2 boxes of nose masks
According to Mr. Boadu, the initiative is designed to empower local leadership and community volunteers to take an active role in cleaning and maintaining their environments.
“We believe that a clean environment is a shared responsibility.
This donation is a small but important step toward fostering collective ownership of sanitation efforts,” he stated.
Boosting Local Sanitation Initiatives
The Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly has made sanitation a key focus, launching community engagement programs and clean-up campaigns to tackle waste management challenges.
The donation by YPN is expected to complement these efforts, particularly at the grassroots level.
Assembly members and local leaders have lauded the gesture, describing it as a timely intervention that will enhance their capacity to mobilize community action.
Commitment to Community Development
YPN has reiterated its commitment to supporting community-driven development and environmental sustainability across Ghana.
The network plans to roll out similar support initiatives in other electoral areas in the near future.
As the country intensifies efforts to achieve cleaner cities and towns, such collaborations between civic groups and local authorities are being recognized as key drivers of lasting impact.
