The Ghana Armed Forces have taken over security at the Jubilee House, marking the 44th Change of Guard since the introduction of the rotational security system at the Presidency.
The ceremonial handover, which occurred Monday morning, signifies the beginning of a three-month tenure for the Army in safeguarding the seat of government.
The event was observed by President John Dramani Mahama, Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, Minister for Defense Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Interior Minister Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, and other senior government officials.
In a display of tradition, discipline, and national pride, the incoming Army unit formally relieved the outgoing security detail in a brief but symbolic ceremony.
The rotational security arrangement, involving the Army, Navy, Air Force, and other national security agencies, is part of efforts to ensure operational readiness and inter-agency collaboration.
Also present at the colourful ceremony were school children from various basic schools in Accra, who witnessed the national tradition as part of civic education efforts to inspire patriotism and an appreciation of the country’s democratic institutions.
The Change of Guard Ceremony is held quarterly and is symbolic of continuity, readiness, and the professionalism of Ghana’s security services.
