In Ghanaian Traditional marriages, the father is expected to ask the would-be bride three times whether he is at liberty to accept the bride price from her would-be husband or otherwise.
If the bride accepts, the father then takes the bride price and gives her hand out for marriage to the would-be husband.
In a video currently in circulation, the President of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa in tandem with the customs and tradition of the Akan people is seen performing his fatherly duties by asking his third daughter whether he should accept the bride price.
The President is heard asking Edwina Nana Dokua Akufo-Addo “do you agree to marry him” and who was excited by the ceremony and the fact that she is finally settling with the love of her life answered in affirmative “I agree”.
The scene came with applause from invited guests who were there to share In their glorious moments of joy.
Images going viral on social media suggest that son of the Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited Maxwell Kofi Jumah, Kwabena Jumah is married to the third daughter of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Edwina Nana Dokua Akufo-Addo.
It is gathered that a traditional ceremony to cement their relationship was held at the Presidential villa at the Jubilee House on Saturday, October 9, 2021, with a few persons in attendance.
