Ewura Adams Karim, an aspiring Deputy National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), says his decision to contest a national executive position is the culmination of over a decade of political activism, grassroots mobilisation and communication work for the party.
Mr Karim, who began actively participating in NDC politics in 2012, maintains that his political experience extends from student and constituency activities to national election campaigns.
Speaking on Radio Gold, he explained that he became increasingly involved in branch and constituency politics around 2014, combining those activities with his education.
He later concentrated much of his work in the Salaga South Constituency, where he joined the party’s communications team and participated in community outreach and election campaigns.
His involvement expanded to the national level, including participation in the NDC’s 2020 presidential campaign following the selection of Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as the party’s running mate.
Mr Karim recalled being contacted while in Germany to support communication efforts aimed at promoting the selection, particularly among women and young people.
He said the assignment brought him into contact with members of the NDC youth wing, with whom he worked on campaign messaging and public engagement.
Despite the party’s defeat in 2020, he remained involved in its political activities and subsequently participated in mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2024 general elections.
Mr Karim also explained that his transition from student politics to constituency and national activities was deliberate, as he believed former student leaders should allow younger members to take responsibility while offering mentorship and guidance.
He maintained that these experiences had given him an understanding of the party’s structures and the demands of political communication, which he now hopes to bring to the national communications leadership.
