If the history of Presidential contests is to be the test case in his situation, 44-year old public health practitioner with the Ghana Health Service, Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey should be awaiting victory in the NDC Parliamentary primaries in Keta on August 24, 2019.
This is because Kwame Gakpey will on August 24, 2019 be contesting his third parliamentary primaries of the opposition party in the Constituency.
The Public Health practitioner lost his first two contests to outgoing Member of Parliament for Keta Richard Quarshigah.
He would however be staking a strong claim to the NDC candidature in the upcoming primaries which is a ticket to the Keta parliamentary seat because of the absence of Richard Quarshigah.
Kwame Gakpey is hoping to be third time lucky but will face strong competition from recently resigned Chairman of the NDC in the Constituency Dr. Senanu Kwasi Djokoto.

Dr. Senanu Djokoto faces the odious task of convincing the delegates to take a chance on him for the second time in a little over a year after choosing to abandon the Chairmanship in favour of a parliamentary dream.
It is being alleged that Dr. Senanu Kwesi Dzokoto in his campaign for the Constituency Chairmanship assured delegates that he did not have immediate plans of pursuing the parliamentary seat, an issue that he will have to address if true, in order to advance his dream.

Kwame Gakpey’s work however seems a little straightforward as he has consistency, familiarity and marketability on his side after contesting for the position twice.
It seems his job this time around will be to find out why his first two bids failed and address the underlying issues.

The competition however promises to be a keen one but Kwame Gakpey is hoping to take inspiration from the late Prof. John Evans Mills and Nana Akufo Addo to emerge third time lucky in the race for the NDC candidature in Keta.
In the meantime, Mr. Gakpey has been telling the delegates he will do things differently if elected candidate in order to revamp the political fortunes of the NDC and the development of the constituency.
Already, Radiogoldlive.com understands Mr. Gakpey’s candidature has been openly endorsed by branch executives across all the communities in the constituency with an assurance that they will support and vote for him.
Speaking after filing his nominations on Friday, July 19, 2019, Kwame Gakpey said he represents the best choice for the party going into the crucial 2020 general elections because his victory will encourage branch executives and the grassroots to work hard to boost the NDC’s fortunes in the upcoming polls.

Persons close to the aspirant, describe Mr Gakpey who is also a communication specialist and businessman as calm, loyal and dedicated to the NDC.
Radiogoldlive.com understands that Kwame Gakpey has been an active member of the NDC in the Keta constituency over the past twenty years.
In 2011, he was a co-opted member of the Constituency Executive Committee until he resigned to contest the primaries ahead of the 2012 elections.

Kwame Gakpey is said to have several business outlets in the constituency, offering jobs to many youth.
These include a microfinance company which has offered support to the constituents by advancing soft loans, especially to women and the youth.
