Ghana and Colombia are expected to deepen bilateral relations between the two countries with the commencement of the 6th Colombia Spanish Language for Diplomats and Public Servants in Accra.
The three months programme which has sixty three Ghanaian participants aim at equipping participants with the basic knowledge of the Spanish language to help facilitate their work and is expected to end by the end of this year.
The course which has seen one hundred and eighty trainees from Ghana’s Foreign Service and Public Servants has over 2,000 individuals benefited across the world.
Supervising Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Ambassador Sammie P. Eddico said Ghana and Colombia have over the years enjoyed excellent relations demonstrated through cooperation in various sectors, including education.
He added that “the ability to communicate in another language can be a contributing factor to the achievement of professional and personal career goals”, indicating that beneficiaries must put in the needed effort to gain the full benefits of the course.
For her part, the Colombian Ambassador to Ghana, Claudia Turbay Quintero urged participants to take keen interest in the programme since it will improve their personnel development and also facilitate communications between nationals of the two countries.
Meanwhile, the programme is being spearheaded by the Colombian Agency of Presidential Cooperation (APC), the Embassy of Colombia in Ghana and the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana,
