The running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Opoku Agyemang has called on Ghanaian women, particularly market women, to take a stand and support the NDC to win the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang underscored the crucial role women play in shaping the country’s future and encouraged women to mobilize and make their voices heard at the polls.
She said these while addressing supporters of the NDC, traders, and community members in Tema as part of her campaign tour to all three constituencies in Tema.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said the NDC has plans to support women to grow their businesses, hence the party’s decision to set up a women’s development Bank to give soft loans to traders without asking for collateral.
Addressing a charged crowd at Tema community one in the Tema east constituency, John Mahama’s running mate told traders to critically exam the poor performance of the Akuffo Addo Bawumia government and vote for change.
She also urged the traders to take part in the ongoing voter exhibition exercise by the Electoral Commission to check their particulars and vote massively for John Mahama and all NDC parliamentary candidates in the upcoming December 7 elections.
At Community 9 market in the Tema Central constituency, traders were happy to receive her.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang told the traders, particularly those who traditionally support the ruling NPP party, to vote massively for the NDC parliamentary candidate, Ebi Bright.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said the ruling NPP had failed to deliver development in Tema Central and does not deserve to remain in power.
She appealed to voters in Tema Central to make the right decision by voting for the NDC.
At Tema West constituency, she charged her audience to vote for John Mahama and the NDC parliamentary candidate lawyer James Enu for development and prosperity, noting that there is too much suffering for the Ghanaian people.
