The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate Sammi Awuku’s campaign Communication van burnt into ashes in the Akuapem North at Mamfe Akuapem in the Eastern region.
The unfortunate incident on Friday, November 22, 2024, burnt the campaign communication van into ashes destroying the sound system and other equipment installed in its trunk for campaign activities.
The campaign communication van of the Akuapem North NPP Parliamentary Candidate was accompanying the First Lady Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo who was in Akuapem North to campaign in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) dominated area mostly settlers who are Ga-Adangbes.
The First Lady earlier commissioned a clinic built for a deprived community in my constituency. Afterwards, she joined Akuapem North NPP Parliamentary Candidate to campaign in some Markets for the NPP flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and the party.
According to sources, on their way back to Mampong from Adawso, the campaign communication van, which was ahead of two other vehicles ahead of the First Lady, started emitting thick smoke. The team pulled the vehicles aside to avoid any mishap, and subsequently, the van blew up in flames.
However, all 4 persons on board the campaign communication van were quickly pulled out to safety before the explosion of the van.
