The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operation Secretariat (NAIMOS) Task Force has intensified its campaign against illegal mining in the Bole/Bamboi area, following a series of swoops that led to multiple arrests and the seizure of heavy machinery and supplies.
On July 25, 2025, the task force revisited a company where 11 Chinese nationals had been arrested the previous day for engaging in illegal mining operations. During the operation, officials confiscated several vehicles, industrial equipment, and other items believed to have been used for galamsey activities.
Seized Items and Equipment
The task force impounded:
Vehicles:
Four Shacman tipper trucks (GT 7048-25, GT 7035-25, GT 7265-25, GT 7243-25)
One bulldozer (GT 5321-25)
One low bed truck (GT 1128-21)
One Forland small truck
Other Items:
10 drums of engine oil
28 assorted Richlion tires
Several motorbikes
The confiscated items were transported to the NAIMOS headquarters in Accra by hired drivers for safekeeping and further investigation.
Ongoing Anti-Galamsey Operations
NAIMOS has vowed to sustain its swoops in Bole/Bamboi and other hotspots, underscoring government’s commitment to tackling the environmental destruction and social disruptions caused by illegal mining.
“These operations are not just about arrests and seizures; they are about safeguarding Ghana’s natural resources and enforcing the law,” a NAIMOS official said.
“We will continue to pursue these operators until our rivers, forests, and lands are protected.”
The crackdown is expected to significantly disrupt illegal mining networks in the Bole/Bamboi enclave, as authorities push for sustainable and regulated mining practices nationwide.
