Ghana Beverage Awards: Trade Minister Announces Revival of “Made in Ghana Fair” to Boost Local Beverage Brands

At the10th edition of the Ghana Beverage Awards, held in Accra on Saturday 18th April, 2026, the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, reiterated the government’s commitment to advancing Ghana’s beverage sector, highlighting the industry’s resilience and potential for continued growth.

The Hon. Minister, who delivered remarks on behalf of the President of the Republic, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, emphasized the importance of the beverage industry in contributing to the country’s economy. From agriculture to manufacturing, retail, and hospitality, the sector touches every aspect of daily life and offers critical economic benefits.

“This industry plays a vital role in Ghana’s economic development, creating jobs and supporting livelihoods,”. Hon. Minister stated.

The event, Themed “A Toast to Ten”, marked not just the achievements of the past decade but also the promising future ahead.

The Hon. Minister praised the work of industry leaders, urging them to continue to improve the quality of locally produced beverages and strengthen their presence on the global market.

Hon. Minister Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, also announcement several new government initiatives designed to further enhance the growth of the industry including the Feed the Industry initiative, which aims to build stronger linkages between local agriculture and beverage manufacturing, while providing crucial support to local farmers and manufacturers.

The upcoming Agribusiness Policy, She said will also seek to accelerate growth through value addition, providing a strategic framework for businesses to expand.

In a bid to promote locally made products, the Hon. Minister disclosed that the revival of the Made-In-Ghana Fair, a vital platform that will allow Ghanaian beverage producers to showcase their products and boost consumer confidence in homegrown brands.

“The fair will serve as an important tool for promoting local products and enhancing the image of Ghanaian brands, both locally and internationally,” she maintained.

At the awards ceremony, Global Media Alliance CEO Mr. Ernest Boateng, underscored the need for the beverage sector to embrace emerging technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), as it reshapes business dynamics worldwide.

He encouraged industry players to adopt AI-driven tools that could help predict market trends and better understand consumer preferences.
“AI has the potential to revolutionize how we operate, from predicting customer needs to improving product quality and operational efficiency,” He noted.
