The Municipal Chief Executive for the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly, Hon. Felix Odartey Lamptey, will, on behalf of the Government of Ghana under the leadership of H.E. John Dramani Mahama, present a range of livelihood support items to Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs) within the municipality.
The initiative forms part of government’s broader commitment to deepen social protection, promote inclusion, and ensure that all citizens—regardless of physical ability—have access to opportunities that improve their quality of life.
Speaking ahead of the presentation ceremony, Hon. Felix Odartey Lamptey emphasized government’s resolve to support vulnerable groups.
“This administration is committed to empowering every Ghanaian,” he stated.
“Providing these items is not just a form of assistance; it is an investment in the dignity, independence, and economic participation of persons living with disabilities in our municipality.”
The items to be distributed will enhance the beneficiaries’ ability to earn a sustainable income, engage in productive ventures, and build long-term livelihoods.
This forms part of the Disability Fund under the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), which seeks to create economic opportunities and reduce social exclusion among PWDs.
Hon. Lamptey further noted:
“We believe that everyone deserves a fair chance to succeed.
These resources will enable our brothers and sisters with disabilities to support themselves, support their families, and contribute meaningfully to the development of Weija-Gbawe.”
Community members and beneficiary groups have welcomed the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful, especially in the face of growing economic challenges.
The presentation ceremony is expected to take place at the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly premises, where beneficiaries will receive items tailored to their specific vocational needs.
