President John Dramani Mahama has departed Accra for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to participate in the 39th Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU).
During the summit, President Mahama will lead and participate in several high-level engagements on behalf of the African Union, with a particular focus on Reparations, Gender, and Financial Inclusion. He is also expected to co-host a number of high-level side events scheduled throughout the duration of the summit.
As part of his engagements, the President will host a breakfast meeting on Saturday under the Accra Reset Initiative, dubbed “Addis Reckoning,” aimed at advancing dialogue on Africa’s political and economic renewal.
In addition, President Mahama will hold bilateral meetings with fellow African leaders and heads of multilateral organisations, and will participate in an Italy–Africa Forum on the margins of the summit.
Also in Addis Ababa is the First Lady, Mrs Lordina Dramani Mahama, who will attend the Summit of the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD), where issues affecting women and children across the continent will be discussed.
President Mahama and the First Lady are expected to return to Accra on Monday, 16 February.
