The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the successful rescue and repatriation of 44 Ghanaian nationals from a fraudulent recruitment network operating in Nigeria.
This breakthrough follows a stern advisory issued by the Ministry on March 13, 2026, which cautioned the public against the deceptive activities of “QNET” and similar recruitment schemes.
The victims arrived safely in Accra on March 20, 2026, after being lured to Nigeria through social media and informal channels with false promises of lucrative employment and travel opportunities.
Upon their arrival in Nigeria, these individuals were subjected to exploitative conditions characterized by restricted movement, psychological coercion, and intense pressure to recruit others into the criminal network.
The rescue was the result of a high-level coordinated operation conducted on March 16, 2026, by the Nigerian Department of State Services (DSS) in close collaboration with relevant Ghanaian institutions.
According to a release from the Ministry, the Government of Ghana is currently working in tandem with Nigerian authorities and various stakeholders to dismantle the remaining infrastructure of these criminal networks.
Furthermore, the state has initiated comprehensive measures to ensure the protection, rehabilitation, and successful reintegration of the victims into their communities.
Expressing its profound gratitude, the Ministry thanked the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for its prompt intervention and continued cooperation in this matter.
The Ghanaian Government reiterates its strong condemnation of human trafficking and fraudulent recruitment practices, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the welfare of all Ghanaian nationals, both at home and abroad.
The public is strongly advised to exercise the utmost caution by verifying all travel and employment opportunities through official government channels and avoiding any engagement with unverified individuals or entities.
