The Ghana Maritime Authority has joined the global community in commemorating the International Day for Women in Maritime, celebrating the resilience, innovation, and achievements of women within the maritime industry.
In a statement issued and signed on Monday, by the Director General of Ghana Maritime Authority, Dr. Kamal – Deen Ali acknowledged the growing impact of women across various sectors of maritime operations, including seafaring, port management, engineering, maritime law, and leadership.
The Authority emphasized that women continue to break barriers and contribute significantly to the growth and transformation of the maritime industry both in Ghana and globally.
“The Authority reaffirms its commitment to gender inclusion and the empowerment of women and girls in maritime.
Diversity and equal participation are essential to unlocking innovation, strengthening Ghana’s maritime sector, and advancing national development,” the statement noted.
The Authority further called on government institutions, industry stakeholders, and development partners to support initiatives aimed at mentoring, training, and elevating women within the maritime space.
“Together, let us sail toward a future where every woman’s potential is fully realized,” the statement added.
The statement also paid tribute to women in the maritime fraternity for their courage, dedication, and achievements, noting that their contributions continue to inspire future generations and propel the industry forward.
