Former Member of Parliament for the Odododiodio Constituency, Hon. Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has resigned from his position as National Coordinator of the District Roads Improvement Programme (DRIP) to contest for the National Chairmanship position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking in an interview with Sena Numbo on Gold Morning Conversation, Mr. Vanderpuye disclosed that his decision was in compliance with the party’s internal election guidelines.
“I had to resign in order to meet the deadline and respect the guidelines,” the former Minister for Youth and Sports said.
According to the NDC’s election guidelines, government appointees who aspire to occupy party positions are required to resign from their current positions at least six clear months before the main elections.
The NDC’s internal elections are scheduled to take place between December 13 and December 18.
Mr. Vanderpuye’s resignation takes immediate effect to ensure compliance with the party’s regulations.
