Adamus Resources Limited has debunked media reports alleging that a security officer of the Company shot and killed an individual purportedly engaged in illegal mining activities within an area described as the Company’s AU Field concession in Salman in the Nzema East District.

A statement issued by the Company to the media said “Adamus Resources maintains a strict security regime within its operational areas and, for the avoidance of doubt, the Company’s security personnel are not equipped with firearms in the discharge of their duties”.

“The suggestion that an Adamus security officer shot an individual is therefore inconsistent with the Company’s security protocols and practices”, the statement added.

According to the company, its preliminary checks reveal that the incident is alleged to have occurred following the sighting of certain individuals suspected to be engaged in illegal mining activities within the concession area.

“ Reports indicate that upon noticing the NAIMOS patrol team in the vicinity, the individuals fled the scene, and that during the course of the ensuing events one person sustained fatal injuries. At this stage, there is no credible evidence linking Adamus Resources Limited or any member of its security team to the alleged shooting”, the statement stressed.

Adamus Resources expressed worry over speculative and misleading news that put the reputable company in a bad light and cautioned the media to desist from it.

“Adamus Resources Limited is deeply concerned by the circulation of speculative narratives that seek to attribute responsibility before the relevant facts have been established by the competent authorities. Such publications risk undermining ongoing investigations and unfairly tarnishes the reputation of entities that have had no involvement in the incident”, the company emphasized.

The Company therefore called on the Ghana Police Service and all other relevant security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate death assuring that Adamus Resources Limited stands ready and willing to cooperate fully with law enforcement authorities in any investigation aimed at uncovering the truth and ensuring accountability where necessary.

“We further urge members of the public, media organizations and commentators to exercise restraint and responsibility in reporting on the matter and to avoid disseminating unverified information capable of causing unnecessary public alarm.

Adamus Resources Limited remains committed to lawful mining operations and the safety of all persons within and around its operational areas whilst collaborating with state institutions to combat illegal mining activities.

The Company extends its condolences to the family of the deceased and expresses the hope that the ongoing investigations will establish the true facts surrounding this unfortunate incident”, the statement said.

PRESS STATEMENT BY ADAMUS RESOURCES LIMITED

Adamus Resources Limited has taken note of media reports alleging that a security officer of the Company shot and killed an individual purportedly engaged in illegal mining activities within an area described as the Company’s AU Field concession in Salman in the Nzema East District.
.
