Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, has commended branch executives across the region for their dedication and sacrifices in securing the party’s landmark victory in the 2024 general elections, while urging them to maintain unity as they prepare for the upcoming branch elections.
In a statement addressed to branch executives, Mr. Ashie Moore expressed gratitude for the critical role grassroots leaders played in delivering one of the most successful electoral outcomes in the history of the NDC in the Greater Accra Region.
“Your dedication, perseverance, and commitment to the party’s ideals were instrumental in our success,” he said.
“I recall the long hours, the countless meetings, and the unwavering commitment to ensuring that every vote counted.”
According to him, the hard work of party executives at the branch level contributed significantly to the NDC securing 29 parliamentary seats in the Greater Accra Region, surpassing the party’s electoral targets and expectations.
“Your hard work paid off, and we delivered 29 parliamentary seats in Greater Accra, exceeding our targets and expectations,” he stated.
Mr. Ashie Moore praised the executives for strengthening party structures, mobilising supporters, and ensuring the integrity of the electoral process throughout the campaign period.
“Your efforts ensured that our party’s message reached every corner of the region, and our candidates were elected with impressive margins,” he noted.
The Regional Chairman also reflected on his extensive engagements with party faithful during the campaign season, revealing that he visited all 34 constituencies in the Greater Accra Region.
“I know many of you by face because I had the privilege of visiting all 34 constituencies in Greater Accra during the 2024 election campaign. I saw firsthand your dedication, your passion, and your commitment to our party’s cause,” he said.
Recalling the sacrifices made by branch executives, Mr. Ashie Moore described the often difficult conditions under which party members worked to ensure victory at the polls.
“I visited a large number of branches and worked hand in hand with you sometimes on an empty stomach, pasting posters deep into the night and waiting for hours for our flagbearer and parliamentary candidates.
Your energy was infectious, and your resilience was inspiring,” he recounted.
Assuring party members that their contributions have not been forgotten, he pledged that the sacrifices of grassroots activists would be duly recognised.
“We have not forgotten your efforts, dedication, and support. We know the sacrifices you made, and we will reward you at the right time,” he said.
Mr. Ashie Moore pointed to the NDC’s overwhelming performance in the Greater Accra Region during the 2024 presidential election as evidence of the effectiveness of the party’s grassroots mobilisation efforts.
President John Dramani Mahama secured 1,120,719 votes, representing 66.48 per cent of the valid votes cast in the region, while the party also achieved historic parliamentary gains.
“This achievement has never happened in the history of the Greater Accra Region of the NDC, and it is a testament to your unwavering commitment to our party,” he stated.
With branch elections approaching, the Regional Chairman encouraged executives seeking re-election and aspiring leaders to place the interests of the party above personal ambitions and continue working towards strengthening the NDC’s grassroots base.
“I have no doubt that you will continue to demonstrate the same level of dedication and passion as you seek to lead our party at the branch level,” he said.
Wishing all contestants success in the upcoming polls, Mr. Ashie Moore called for unity and discipline throughout the electoral process.
“I wish each and every one of you the best of luck in the upcoming elections. May the party’s interests be your guiding principle, and may you emerge victorious,” he concluded.
The upcoming NDC branch elections are expected to serve as a key test of the party’s organisational strength as it seeks to consolidate its gains and sustain the momentum generated by its historic performance in the 2024 general elections.
