The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Women’s Wing has been urged to prioritise competence, courage and visionary leadership in its quest to elect a new leader capable of strengthening the wing and advancing women’s empowerment.
A statement endorsing Hon. Mrs. Seyram Betty Krosbi Mensah for the leadership position said the wing needed a brave, confident, vibrant and experienced woman who understands the concerns of women and can unite and inspire members across the country.
It described Mrs. Krosbi Mensah as a leader whose record of service, commitment and leadership qualities positioned her as a strong candidate to lead the party’s women’s front.
According to the statement, the next leader of the Women’s Wing must possess strong communication skills, demonstrate a genuine commitment to women’s empowerment and have the ability to mobilise members towards a common goal.
It stressed that effective leadership required more than personal ambition, arguing that the position demanded a clear vision, the courage to confront challenges and the capacity to represent the interests of women within the party and beyond.
The endorsement further called on delegates and members of the NDC to make their choice based on leadership experience, competence and a demonstrable commitment to the welfare and advancement of women.
It cautioned against allowing money and personal interests to influence the leadership contest, insisting that the future of the Women’s Wing should take precedence over individual considerations.
“The time has come for us to choose good leadership, competence and vision over money and personal interest,” the statement said.
It urged members to rally behind a candidate capable of building a united, vibrant and effective Women’s Wing that would contribute meaningfully to the party’s organisational strength and political fortunes.
The statement concluded with a call for members to choose experience, courage, empowerment and good leadership, describing these qualities as essential to the future of the NDC Women’s Wing.
While the endorsement presents Mrs. Krosbi Mensah as a preferred candidate, the statement did not provide details of her campaign plans or outline specific policies she would pursue if elected.
