A member of the North America chapter of the NDC Professionals Forum Sam Ansah is proposing the decentralization of the Electoral Commission.
This according to him can be done by creating a structure that allows each of Ghana’s 16 regions to have their own Commissioner.
This Regional Commissioners will have absolute control over elections within their regions.
Sam Ansah believes the move will significantly limit the power of the national body, which currently controls and directs affairs across the country.
He believes the move will also make it difficult for the EC to be influenced.

Sam Ansah made the proposal when contributing to the discussion of the violence that has greeted the ongoing voter registration exercise.
Sam Ansah to Sena Nombo on the Pro-Forum Hour, the current structure at the EC is not working in the interest of the voter whose constitutional right to elect Ghana’s leaders has been greatly compromised.
