Pro-opposition group, NDC Pro-Forum North America is making a rallying call on all members of the biggest opposition party National Democratic Congress (NDC) to take up the charge of advocating the creation a national character that ensures Ghana stays on the path to development.
The group made the call in a statement issued and signed by President of the group Arnold Appiah to mark the 40th Anniversary of the June 4th 1979 Revolution.
This year’s celebration was held on the theme “Developing a National Character for Sustainable Governance”.
NDC Pro-Forum North America believes the theme of this year’s celebration is appropriate and properly timed.
“Once again, our dear Ghana has the occasion to take stock of how far we have come as a nation and rekindle the fight against mismanagement, oppression and corruption that derail development in our daily lives,” the group opined
The group is convinced the NDC is the best party to provide leadership for the building of an abiding national character because of its antecedents and social democratic background.
“We wish to reiterate that the June 4th, 1979 uprising led by our revered founder Ex-President Jerry John Rawlings was for the love of the country; and it is even more monumental today for us social democrats to strengthen our democratic institutions to alleviate hardship in our present circumstances”.
“We urge all NDC supporters to stand-out on this day and at any opportune occasion to advocate for a national character that will see Ghana come out of her present challenges under the deceit of the Akufo-Addo led-government,” the group opined.
NDC Pro-Forum North America also paid a glowing a tribute to the architects of the June 4th Revolution.
“On this occasion the Pro Forum-North America salute the leaders of the uprising forty (40) years ago for their sacrifice in carving a new path for governance grounded in ‘probity and accountability’ and a feeling for the poor and marginalized,” the group stated.
