Radiogoldlive.com has gathered that the police officers assigned to the Arise Ghana demo have resorted to the firing of teargas to deter demonstrators from using the route that passes the frontage of President Akufo-Addo’s private residence.
Radio Gold reporters Patrick Asford Boadu and Nancy Obimpeh report that the police started firing the teargas after the demonstrators attempted to use the Ring road against the directive of the police.
This worsened a standoff which Gold News understands has affected activities within the Nkrumah Interchange as passengers and trotro drivers abandoned their stations to escape the effect of the teargas.
Gold News reporters say even journalists were not spared the police teargas with the demonstrators clashing over the stance of the police on the route.
The demonstrators remain at Obra Spot as the police have barricaded the Ring Road to ensure the demonstrators from using that route.
President Akufo-Addo’s private residence is located on that stretch of road.
