The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti region has welcomed claims by the Regional Director of the Electoral Commission that his outfit has revised registration figures put out by the election management body.
The Ashanti Region EC Director disclosed the revision of EC’s figures to a Kumasi based radio station in response to allegations of padding raised by the NDC.
The NDC at a press conference yesterday alleged that the EC was deliberately inflating the numbers of registrants.

In an interview with Sena Nombo on the Gold Power Drive Regional Secretary of the NDC Kwame Zu said the revision of the figures initially put out by the EC vindicates their allegation of a deliberate ploy to pad the numbers of registrants.
He was surprised the Ashanti region EC chose to respond to the NDC only after they went public with evidence of the fact that the EC’s figures did not tally with the real facts on the ground.
Kwame Zu said the EC Regional Director had ignored several offers to meet over the anomalies in the figures that were being published by the EC.
He indicated the EC even failed to respond to a letter from his office outlining their concerns and necessary evidence.
The Ashanti region NDC however indicated that they would contact the EC Regional Office for the revised figures.
He served notice the Regional NDC would go public once again if the revised figures also fail to reflect the actual state of affairs on the ground.
Kwame Zu said the recent happenings has strengthened the Ashanti region NDC’s resolve to document everything that happens at all registration centers across the region.
