Former Ghana international, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu says, the decline in Ghana’s youth football has to do with the quality of players in different generations.
The former Udinese midfielder was comparing their 2009 AFCON and FIFA U-20 World Cup winning squad to those of recent generation.
His comparison comes following the Black Satellites 2-1 loss to Nigeria in the 2024 WAFU ZONE B finals at the Stade de Kegue.
“It is a generational thing and the world has changed as well but they still have quality in the team and they have a good coach.” Agyemang Badu told Radio Gold Sports.
“He [the coach] needs to beef up the squad, for the AFCON, you can get some of the professionals to come and beef up the team like our time when we brought Andre Ayew and the others.
“So it will help them to have a lot of qualities and a lot of options in the team.”
The Black Satellites have qualified for the 2025 AFCON alongside Nigeria with the venue and date yet to be confirmed.
Ghana last won the Africa U-20 in 2021 under the guidance of veteran coach, Abdul Karim Zito.
