The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations has successfully concluded negotiations with MultiChoice Africa and MultiChoice Ghana regarding the pricing of the DStv service in Ghana, resulting in an “unprecedented increased value offer” for subscribers.
The announcement, made in a joint statement following the work of a dedicated Stakeholder Committee, promises that Ghanaians will receive between 33% and 50% more value for their existing subscription fees.
The Stakeholder Committee, established on September 7, 2025, and chaired by the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George brought together representatives from the Ministry, the National Communications Authority (NCA), MultiChoice Africa, and MultiChoice Ghana.
Its two primary objectives were to reach a shared, commercially viable understanding of DStv pricing and to establish a roadmap to curb the persistent cross-border piracy of DStv decoders and services from Nigeria into Ghana.
The Minister commended the commitment and candour of all committee members, noting that the positive outcomes were achieved despite a “rigid time period” and a concurrent shareholder transition at MultiChoice Africa.
After deliberating on various factors, including cost elements, the Ghanaian macroeconomic environment, and subscription trends, the Committee reported a breakthrough on the pricing issue.
“MultiChoice Africa has committed to implement an unprecedented increased value offer only in Ghana, which will result in Ghanaian DStv subscribers getting more services for less,” Sam George stated.
Effective October 1, 2025, the new arrangements will significantly upgrade subscriber packages at no extra cost.
