The running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Opoku Agyemang believes the prevailing conditions of the Ghanaian and Ghana are the strongest case for change and has urged voters to respond accordingly.
According to him, the Ghanaian needs to reject the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for what she described as years of pain and economic hardship.
Addressing a gathering at the Palace of the Regent of Wungu, Sulemana Saka Adam in the North East Region during a campaign tour, Prof. Opoku Agyemang said the NPP under the joint leadership of President Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia, has failed Ghanaians, particularly women, whom she claimed were disproportionately affected by the current economic turmoil.
“The time to change is now,” the NDC Veep candidate said as she mobilized support for the NDC to unseat the “Oppressor” (NPP government) in the upcoming December 7 elections.
At Walewale constituency, Prof. Opoku Agyemang criticized the NPP’s track record on job creation, highlighting the alarming rates of youth unemployment across all regions in the country.
She said, there was an urgent need for citizens to reconsider their support for a party that has failed to deliver on its promises.
At the Langbinsi Park in the Nelerigu Gambaga constituency, large numbers of supporters welcomed Professor Opoku Agyemang and her entourage.
There, she openly questioned the trustworthiness of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, asking, “Would you leave your most precious possession, dear to your heart, in the hands of a liar?”
At the palace of the Nayiri, Naa Bohugu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga-the King of Mamprugu, professor Opoku Agyemang called for a peaceful election before, during and after the December polls.
Message of urgency and hope.
At Bunkpurugu and Yunyoo constituencies, Prof. Opoku Agyemang underscored John Mahama’s experience and proven track record in governance as a reason for voters to rally behind him.
She assured Ghanaians that the next NDC government would introduce a “24-Hour Economy,” a “Big Push” initiative, a Women’s Development Bank, and a National Apprenticeship Programme aimed at job creation and empowerment.
“Let us secure a future that benefits all Ghanaians. A vote for Mr. Mahama and the NDC is a vote to reset the country and bring back hope,” she said.
