Her Excellency Lordina Dramani Mahama is in Washington, D.C. to participate in the Fostering the Future Together Global Coalition Summit, following an invitation from the First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump.
The two-day summit, convened by Mrs. Trump, brings together First Ladies and spouses of world leaders from across the globe to deliberate on strategies aimed at promoting a safer and more equitable digital environment for children.
Discussions at the summit are expected to focus on strengthening online safety frameworks, advancing digital inclusion, and ensuring that emerging technologies serve as tools for the development and protection of young people.
In a commitment statement issued ahead of the event, Mrs. Mahama reaffirmed Ghana’s dedication to safeguarding children in the digital space.
“Ghana stands ready to ensure technology becomes a force for empowerment, not endangerment, for every child. Our children’s future is our shared moral duty and generational responsibility,” she stated.
Her participation underscores Ghana’s commitment to engaging in global efforts to shape policies that protect children while enabling them to benefit from the opportunities presented by the digital age.
The statement was issued by Felix Kwakye Ofosu (MP), Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications.
