The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has issued a firm rebuttal to media reports alleging that the corporation incurred losses exceeding ₵3 billion in its first year of operation.
In a strongly worded statement released on Monday, November 17, 2025, the Board described the publication—originally attributed to Asaase Radio—as wholly inaccurate and intentionally crafted to discredit the institution’s achievements.
According to the GoldBod, the claims are “entirely false and deliberately contrived to undermine the successes and significant contribution of the GoldBod to the revitalization of Ghana’s economy.”
The state-owned entity insisted that, far from recording losses, it has been consistently profitable since its establishment.
“The GoldBod wishes to put on record that, contrary to the mischievous claims contained in the said publication, the GoldBod has been making significant surpluses since its establishment,”
the statement emphasised.
To reinforce its position, the corporation announced that its official quarterly financial statements—detailing its positive financial performance—will soon be published on its website for public scrutiny.
The GoldBod urged Ghanaians to dismiss the report with “utmost contempt,” stressing that such misinformation threatens to erode public trust in institutions working to support economic stability and growth.
The Board also called on Asaase Radio to take responsibility for the publication, demanding a full retraction and an unqualified public apology for what it described as a misleading and unethical report.
The statement underscores the GoldBod’s resolve to defend its reputation as it continues its mandate to support Ghana’s gold-for-development initiatives and broader economic agenda.
