Public support for President John Dramani Mahama remains strong one year after he assumed office, according to a new survey by the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA).
The poll, conducted in December 2025 across all regions of Ghana with more than 1,000 respondents, found that 68% of Ghanaians approve of the President’s performance.
Presenting the findings, the IEA indicated that although the country continues to face economic pressures, “most of the key economic indicators appear to be moving in the right direction, although significant socioeconomic challenges remain.”
The survey was conducted to assess public opinion on President Mahama’s leadership and the prevailing economic situation, including the cost of food, consumer goods and unemployment.
While approval levels remain high, the IEA noted that citizens are still concerned about structural challenges.
The findings suggest that although many Ghanaians believe the country is heading in the right direction, economic pressures continue to shape public sentiment.
