Presiding judge Justice John Nyadu Nyante has ruled that plea bargain discussions in the trial of former National Signals Bureau (NSB) Director, Kwabena Adu Boahene, cannot proceed until full disclosures are filed and served on the defence.
The directive came during court proceedings on Monday, after prosecutors requested additional time to submit key documents.
Deputy Attorney General Dr. Justice Srem-Sai attributed the delay to the illness of a key investigator, but assured the court the individual would be available by Friday, May 30, 2025.
In response, Justice Nyante ordered that all disclosures be filed no later than Monday, June 2.
Although no official explanation was given for the directive, it followed a private sidebar discussion involving the judge, Dr. Srem-Sai, and defence lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea, held at the request of the Deputy Attorney General.
The case has been adjourned to June 11, 2025, for a case management conference.
