The Member of Parliament for Krachi Nchumuru, Solomon Kuyon, has rolled out a comprehensive series of social intervention projects across the constituency, disbursing academic grants, donating emergency disaster relief items, and commissioning several new school infrastructure projects.
The initiatives highlight a continued commitment to educational development and community welfare in an area where farming serves as the primary economic driver and poverty levels present significant challenges for pursuing higher education.
Addressing the financial hurdles local students face when entering tertiary institutions, Solomon Kuyon disbursed GHS 69,000 in direct educational support to 34 beneficiaries.
The funds were tailored to cover varying needs, supporting freshers, continuing students with outstanding fees, and postgraduate candidates pursuing Master’s and Ph.D. degrees.
This financial intervention builds on an annual commitment the MP established during his former tenure as District Chief Executive (DCE). In addition to direct grants, the MP has actively lobbied for state-sponsored funding, securing government and GETFund scholarships for 10 students in 2024, following 15 beneficiaries the previous year and 20 students recently enrolled on full-ride scholarships.
In response to recent severe weather that destroyed homes in Kwame Akora, the MP delivered immediate relief supplies to families affected by collapsed housing structures.
Because ongoing seasonal rains currently prevent immediate construction work, emergency provisions including food items, clothing, mattresses, sleeping mats, buckets, pans, and bowls were distributed to sustain residents until dry weather allows for the provision of cement and roofing sheets to rebuild ruined homes.
To eliminate severe gaps in basic education infrastructure, MP Solomon Kuyon commissioned and inspected multiple school facilities across underserved communities. In Kaliako, he commissioned a newly constructed three-unit classroom pavilion to replace a temporary, community-built structure that was destroyed during a severe thunderstorm.
In Dindor, he unveiled a new two-unit classroom block constructed through his initiative, alongside a complementary three-unit classroom block delivered in collaboration with the District Assembly. These facilities address a decades-long deficit for the long-established community, which previously lacked formal school infrastructure.
Similarly, in Borae Mala, a temporary school pavilion was provided to shelter children during learning hours while formal plans advance to construct a permanent school block by early next year.
Addressing media inquiries regarding regional infrastructure, Kuyon clarified that educational development spans multiple corridors across the constituency.
Active and completed projects along surrounding routes include a three-unit classroom block with administrative facilities in Kornado, an ongoing six-unit classroom project in Bawado awaiting roofing, and additional developments serving Zongo Macheri and neighboring areas.
