Member of Parliament for Juaboso in the Western region Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has called on government to be transparent with Ghanaians in the management of Covid-19 in order to clear the doubt about figures being churned out
According to him it was important all doubts about the figures of infected, recoveries and death patients be cleared in the Minds of the people.
He pointed out that for the country to be ahead of the virus then there was the need to be proactive in doing the right things, “we shouldn’t wait until somebody reports to the hospital and suspected of carrying the virus before we move in for contact tracing.”
He indicated that what was important was mass testing by going to areas , districts and regions where Covid-19 had not been recorded yet and be testing the people, saying, that’s the only way to determine determine our status as a country.
Speaking on Alhaji and Alhaji on Pan African Tv, Mr. Akandoh called on on government to give daily updates of cases and not double counts, for instance how many they are testing per day, This he noted would make Ghana move ahead of the virus.
Ghana’s Coronavirus case stands at confirmed cases 7,768, with 2,540 recoveries and 35 deaths.
“They should be transparent in the management of the situation. We are not managing the virus well. We should therefore be careful of easing restrictions because other countries eased restrictions and reopened schools, but had to lockdown again due to a new wave of the virus , hence government should be guided,” Akandoh said.
The Juaboso legislator urged government to make PPEs available in the system becauethere are no PPEs in most District Hospitals which is dangerous in this era of Covid-19, where every patient is a potential carrier of the virus.
