John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), recently met with 24 members of the diplomatic corps in Accra to discuss Ghana’s upcoming elections and express concerns about the country’s electoral process and rising corruption.
The meeting, hosted by U.S. Ambassador Virginia Palmer, provided an opportunity for Mahama and NDC officials to engage with the diplomatic community and share their perspectives on the nation’s democratic future.
Mahama emphasized the importance of a transparent and fair electoral process, highlighting the NDC’s concerns about the potential for electoral manipulation and the need for safeguards to ensure the integrity of the polls.
He also addressed the issue of corruption, which has been a major concern in Ghana, and the troubling trajectory of the country’s democracy.
The meeting was attended by key NDC officials, including National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, General Secretary Fifi Kwetey, and Director of Elections and IT, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah.
This engagement with the diplomatic corps reflects Mahama’s efforts to promote transparency and accountability in Ghana’s electoral process and to ensure a peaceful and democratic transition of power.
