Famous Ghanaian female singer Dorcas Opoku Dakwa known by her stage name as Abrewa Nana is calling on the Ghana Music Right Organization (GHAMRO) to emulate Ghana’s Social Security and National Investment Trust (SSNIT) on how the scheme caters for pensioners.
Abrewa Nana made this statement as she claims things are not done right at the GHAMRO especially how royalties of musicians across the country is distributed.
“In the actual sense, royalties should have been just like the way SNNIT pays pensioner, in that manner, there would be no need for me us to touch it in our early lives”, Abrewa Nana told Hammar Nti on Pure FM during an interview on in Pure FM Kumasi.
According to her, the best way to distribute royalty by GHAMRO is to pay them directly in the account of the individual musician without necessarily driving to their office to receive a check.
Meanwhile, the Social Security and National Investment Trust (SSNIT) according to the Auditor General’s report 2020 lost a total amount of $11.79 million from the liquidation of three of its investment with a total cash outlay of 14.768 million.
Abrewa Nana also cried in her interview saying quietly apart from GHMRO given them chicken change royalty, sharing of it has also become to whom you know
