Thousands of Ghanaian importers and exporters are turning to Technology in their dealings at Ghana’s ports thanks to a partnership between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and West Blue Consulting under the Single Windows project.
The two entities have been working to make Ghana’s ports “smart” to make it easier for people to do business at the facilities.
So far, several steps have been taken at the ports under the single windows concept to make it easier for businesses and individuals to clear and export their goods through the port.
The latest introduction which is already making waves is the Ghana Trade Hub Mobile app.
The app which can be used by importers, exporters, individuals and businesses to calculate duties and track goods has already been downloaded over 10,000 times.
The app which has a user friendly interface is following in the footsteps of the ghanastradinghub.gov.gh, a website that serves almost the same purpose.
The website has so far had over 500,000 hits, an indication that more and more Ghanaians have found it helpful in transacting business at the ports.
A Customs trainer at the Kotoka International Airport Hector Obideabah who disclosed this at a media disclosed that persons who import their goods through the port can use the app to estimate the duties they will have to pay.
In addition the app can also be used to track goods among other useful tools that users can discover.
Hector Obideabah told the press that the app is currently available and easily accessible on play store and ios and encouraged all persons seeking to do business with the port to download it.
