Member of Parliament for Tamale North Alhaji Alhassan Suhuyini believes the demand of 80 NPP MPs for the replacement of the Finance Minister would be put to the test when the motion for censure is debated and voted on.
The Speaker of Parliament Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin on Thursday 27 October 2022 admitted the Motion for the Censure of the Finance Minister filed by all members of the minority in Parliament.
Tamale North MP and member of the minority Alhaji Alhassan Suhuyini told Sena Nombo on the Gold Morning Conversation the open demand by the 80 NPP MPs is a boost to the motion of the minority.
He said the minority now knows which MPs to target and lobby to ensure the vote of censure succeeds.
The Tamale North MP assured that all minority MPs would vote in favour of the motion.
The 80 NPP MPs on the morning of 25 October 2022 held a brief press conference to demand that the two gentlemen be replaced amidst threats to boycott government business and the budget reading and approval process.
Alhassan Suhuyini admitted he was impressed when he heard 80 New Patriotic Party (NPP) colleagues call for the dismissal of Finance minister Ken Ofori Atta and Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance Charles Adu Boahen.
Alhassan Suhuyini said he was not surprised by the content of the press conference as some NPP MPs had in private conversations expressed misgivings with the performance of Ken Ofori Atta and Charles Adu Boahen.
He said some NPP MPs have in private always held the opinion that the finance minister was not fit to remain in the position in the midst of the crisis that Ghana finds itself.

The Minority NDC MPs have also filed a motion to subject the Finance minister Ken Ofori Atta to a vote of censure.
Despite having the numbers to file the motion, Minority leader Haruna Iddrisu admitted that they do not have the numbers to succeed with the motion.
Alhassan Suhuyi is however of the opinion that the demand by the 80 NPP MPs has given their motion a boost and made their job easier.
He said the request of the NPP MPs would be put to the test when the motion for censure is debated and voted on.
