Their first appearance cost former New York based banker Boakye Agyako his job as Energy minister and is further threatening his Presidential ambition.
This time Matthew Opoku Prempeh, a man said to be interested in partnering Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia as Running mate in the 2024 elections is the Energy minister and in the firing line
It however seems the Nana Akufo-Addo government is not done with the Greece based Mytilineous Holdings as they are back in another arrangement that would cost the country in excess of $35million.
The target remains the same, the AMERI Power plant procured through a Build Own Operate Transfer (BOOT) arrangement under the predecessor government of John Dramani Mahama.
The first attempt was an unpopular move that would have inflated the cost of the BOOT arrangement by a whopping over $800million with the major beneficiary being Mytilineous.
That arrangement resulted in a scandal and the latest one is already attracting the attention of the minority who have described it as strange and incongruous.
They describe the $35million dollars transportation cost as astronomical and revealed that the arrangement to pre-finance the transfer of the plant to Kumasi was signed between Mytilineous and the Volta River Authority (VRA) on the instruction of the Akufo-Addo led administration.
Minority Spokesperson Energy and former Minister for Power John Jinapor at a press conference in Parliament accused the government of “using surreptitious and clandestine means to appropriate the plant to cronies and friends”.
He called on government to transfer the plant to the Volta River Authority.
