The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested three suspects allegedly linked to the activities of Dutch fugitive Jos Leijdekkers, popularly known as “Bolle Jos,” in Ghana.
According to NACOC, the suspects were allegedly representing and facilitating the activities of Leijdekkers, who is wanted in connection with international drug-trafficking activities.
The arrests follow the reported seizure by French customs authorities of a cocaine shipment allegedly connected to a wider international network.
NACOC said the three suspects are currently in its custody and are assisting investigators as authorities examine their alleged roles in the trafficking operation.
The Commission said the arrests reaffirm its determination to ensure that Ghana does not become a safe haven, transit point or operational base for international drug-trafficking organisations.
NACOC further indicated that it would continue working with domestic and international law-enforcement partners to disrupt the people, finances and infrastructure supporting the illicit drug trade.
It stressed, however, that the rights and legal protections of all persons under investigation would be safeguarded.
