Ahead of the 2019 Parliamentary Primaries of the National Democratic Congress, a group of women who call themselves Concerned Madina NDC Women from the Madina Constituency yesterday purchased nomination forms for renowned Human Rights Lawyer Francis Xavier Sosu.
Whiles it is unclear whether their action has the full endorsement of Mr. Sosu, Spokesperson for the group who identified herself as Hajia Maria was clear about the reason for their actions.
She said the action of the Concerned Madina NDC Women was out of the belief that Lawyer Francis-Xavier Sosu stands the best chance of reclaiming the Madina Constituency seat for the NDC.

The NDC in 2016 lost the seat to the governing New Patriotic Party after holding it for several years.
The women believe lawyer Sosu who lost a keenly contested parliamentary primaries to former MP Amadu Sorogho in 2016, stands tall among all the other persons seeking to contest in the primaries and is the best bet for the NDC if it wants to wrestle back the seat.
“Lawyer Sosu did very well in the last primaries. The people already know him. Aside politics, he has contributed a lot to this country and he is the kind of person we need in parliament to represent us. Even NPP sympathizers are willing to vote for him if elected as parliamentary candidate, ” she added.
The action of the women yesterday makes lawyer Sosu the first aspirant to pick nomination forms to contest the Madina seat.
It is however unclear whether other persons will be joining the race even though grapevine information picked up by Radiogoldlive.com is to the effect that the immediate past National Youth Organizer of the party Sidi Abubakar will be contesting.
Lawyer Sosu in 2015 polled 1,486 votes as against the 1,738 votes polled by that of the then incumbent and long serving MP for Madina Amadu Sorogho who has represented the Constituency since 2004.
The Human Rights Lawyer who has earlier declared his intention to contest the primaries to Radiogoldlive.com is hoping to go two steps further to emerge the NDC Parliamentary candidate and then win the 2020 parliamentary elections for the opposition party.
We have however been unable to get Lawyer Sosu to comment on the actions of the Concerned Madina NDC Women.
