Despite not submitting a bid to host the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC), Texas branch of the party has been selected by incumbent US chapter executives to host upcoming chapter election conference.
Texas’ selection would be a slap on the face of the New York branch which put it in a well-structured bid at the close of bids for the hosting of the chapter elections.
It is unclear why the chapter executives selected Texas out of the blue but a former branch Secretary of the NDC in New York Comrade Ansah in an article suspects the move might be part of what he calls “monkey games” as part of self-preservation efforts.
Sources within the New York branch say they only know of competing bid from the Ohio branch but were confident their bid was much more superior.
Reacting to the news of the selection of the Texas branch in a brief statement, a Chapter Chairman hopeful Dr. Justice Salifu said the news was shocking.
He was surprised the chapter executives did not even afford members the “courtesy of an annulment of a pending bid result that pointed to New York’s branch as an apparent winner.”
“Whiles I challenge the source of the powers of the executive committee to make such decision without a transparent competitive process, I declare my opposition to the implementation of such decision that will disenfranchise innocent committed NDC majority in the East Coast.”
“Obviously, this decision was made without consideration of the implications if implemented, but also depict the weakening democratic culture creeping into our body politic,” he stated.
