The Paramount Chief of Kwamankese Traditional Area in the Central Region Nana Okakaben Idun Andoh has sued Social Commentator Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah for defaming him.
The Kwamankese Chief wants GHC10million in damages from the Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah and an order of perpetual injunction to restrain the defendant from making any further defamatory publications against him.
In a suit filed on his behalf at the High Court, Nana Okakaben Idun Andoh said Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah made the defamatory statements in a program called “For the Records” on social media platforms in Ghana.
The Traditional Chief said the statements were made as part of a banter with his son and popular social media personality Kevin Taylor.
Nana Okakaben Idun Andoh says Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah instead of focusing on his banter with his son decided to assassinate his character and defame him.
He said the Social Media commentator in the broadcast in question accused him of fraud, called him a criminal and irresponsible father.
Nana Okakaben Idun Andoh said Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah further claimed that he was an illegitimate occupant of the Paramount stool which he “ascended through a clandestine help from the late President of the Republic of Ghana Prof. John Evans Atta Mills”.
“That the Plaintiff sold a property to two individuals at the same time and became a wanted and took flight as a result,” he stated.
Nana Okakaben Idun Andoh said the statements made by Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah have tarnished his image, lowered his reputation in the eyes of right-thinking members of society, in addition to suffering considerable embarrassment, opprobrium and public ridicule
